On Earth Day, our edm team united in Massachusetts to contribute to the well-being of our planet and community.

Edm implements a strategic partnership with Greylock Design Associates led by Robert Akroyd. This will expand edm's expertise in landscape architecture, land planning, site permitting & more. 

January 16th, 2024 - Edm is thrilled to welcome three new team members to the company: Allison, Matthew, and Jim. Allison is hired as edm's newest Marketing Coordinator and Admin Assistant, Matthew is the newest Structural Engineer, and Jim is the new Manager of Structural Engineering.

EDM's architects and engineers recently broke ground on a new DCAMM facility that will achieve LEED Gold, LEED Net Zero certification, and Passive House certification, truly the first of its kind for both the community and the EDM team — but most certainly, not the last.

This week, EDM's Architect Tim Widman and MEP Manager Robert Sherman were both featured speakers at the Grow Better Industries' "Getting Started in the CT Cannabis Market" webinar, which featured some of Connecticut's top cannabis industry professionals.

The Cannabis industry is truly flourishing. By 2030, it’s predicted that the market will reap over $57 billion, thanks to an annual growth of 11% year-over-year. And as more people try to plant a seed in the business here in the Northeast, EDM has been paving the way for successful ventures as their trusted engineering and architectural partner.

EDM’s mantra has somewhat of a double meaning for the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) division. Of course, they’re busy engineering solutions that help clients turn visions into reality on a daily basis, but they’re also creating something pretty cool within our own four walls — a bright future. And it’s all thanks to a teaching mindset.

When an entire city, school district, and an international food services management company come together with the shared mission to eliminate student hunger, you can imagine the lofty construction plans it entailed. The site for those plans, however, wasn’t quite to scale. So with a big ambition having to fit a small blueprint, EDM had to think outside the box in all new ways. And in the end, the outcome was just as momentous as the intention behind it.

At EDM, we always have an eye towards the future. We apply that not only to the work we do but also in the way we look to support the next generation of architects, designers, and engineers.

“Teamwork makes the dream work” seems like a fitting mantra to introduce this project story — considering it all kicked off on a soccer field (well, sort of).  Let’s just say, if it weren’t for EDM Principal/CEO, Jeromy Richardson’s side gig as youth travel team coach, the Bright Morningstar Kitchen may never have had its Grand Opening.

They work indoors — in meetings, on the phone, or in front of computers and CAD systems — but on April 22, EDM employees ventured out of their offices here to commemorate Earth Day the best way possible — by making a positive difference in their communities’ environments.

Our work at The Hotchkiss School, an independent boarding and day school located in Lakeville, Connecticut, has always involved bringing multiple design disciplines together. EDM's integrated architectural/engineering team played an integral role in planning, designing and implementing a series of infrastructure improvements at four dormitory buildings on campus.
 

We were drawn to Pittsfield in search of more office space and proximity to a thriving downtown. Over the years we’ve relished in the opportunity to become engrained in the community. Take a drive around Town and you'll see our work on display, such as the 99 North Street Berkshire Bank branch and the athletic fields at Berkshire Community College. The area has undergone a transformation in recent years through significant investments in the historic downtown, and our staff of have no shortage of recommendations on area attractions!
 

September 30, 2021 - The Town of Hadley recently held a ribbon cutting for three public buildings: a senior center, library, and fire substation.
