edm Presents Veterans Memorial Pool Master Plan to City of Middletown

January 25, 2021 – edm, Milone & MacBroom, and Aquattica Pool & Water Parks presented the Veterans Memorial Pool and Park Masterplan to the City of Middletown, CT.
The site is an existing pool and bathhouse that is being completely redesigned. There has only been conceptual planning so far, though the site has interesting topography as the existing pool and building is on a hill about 25 feet above the main road in the park.
Part of the design includes a new splash pad which was put on the lower level of the site, separate from the pool, to allow better access for the public. The building is built into the hill so people can access from the splash pad on the lower level and the pool on the upper level. What used to be the storage room in the basement of the building is being turned into public restrooms, making the building location and renovation very convenient for both the upper pool and the lower splash pad. The side of the building is being renovated to be more welcoming, as that is the side that faces the main road even though it is not the main entry for the pool access.
