edm Intern Awarded Engineer of the Year at VTC
January 31st, 2020
January 30, 2020 – edm engineering intern Samantha Daniels was awarded the Architectural Engineer of the Year award from Vermont Technical College. This is the college’s most prestigious award for engineering programs.
Samantha is a senior at Vermont Technical College (VTC) in their Architectural Engineering program. Vermont Tech students were nominated by program faculty for demonstrating academic excellence, student leadership, professionalism, and engineering-based analysis, and problem solving. The selection committee consisted of the school’s academic dean, and a professor from each engineering program at VTC – typically the department head.
As a first-generation college student, Samantha knew she wanted to work in the engineering field from a young age. Over the years and during her time at edm, where she has been an intern since graduating high school, Samantha has explored multiple disciplines of the A/E industry and determined that her passions lies with structural engineering. She has had the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects, including a large mill renovation that was being turned into a cannabis grow facility, structural design for a Red Cross Facility, mechanical and plumbing systems design for government facilities, and being a part of the Construction Administrative Team for the Miraval Resort & Spa in Lenox, MA.
In addition to being a student at VTC and intern at edm, Samantha is also the President of the ASHRAE VTC Student Chapter.
We are extremely proud of all of Samantha’s accomplishments!
