Structural Engineer

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate for this position is creative and passionate about building structural systems, working within an integrated design team and generating sustainable solutions in all phases of a project.  The position is responsible for managing and designing structural systems in many different materials, development of building lateral systems for seismic and wind, design foundation systems (shallow and deep), and shall be familiar with structural analysis software (RISA 3D and RISA Floor would be preferred).

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, providing design solutions that exceed their expectations.
  • Perform a variety of tasks including calculations, field observations, report writing and the review and coordination of work.
  • Capable of climbing ladders and performing structural observations from man lifts.
  • Structural systems design, documentation and specification based on sustainable, reliable and cost-effective solutions in compliance with the Local Building Code.
  • Develop construction documents implementing edm Standards to produce a coordinated design set.
  • Review contractor submittals.
  • Work with junior technical staff in the development of technical documentation, proposals and presentations and resolving installed system issues.
  • Attend meetings with clients, architects and engineers.
  • Coordinate systems and requirements with the architect, HVAC and plumbing designers and other disciplines.
  • Actively seek the latest technologies related to engineering principles and practices.
  • Implement and manage concurrent projects.
  • Maintain involvement with professional and business sector organizations and associations.
  • Demonstrate an active presence in the community.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years’ experience
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Master’s Degree Desirable
  • Experience with Revit and AutoCAD
