Mechanical Engineer

Location: Farmington, CT, Pittsfield, MA, or Troy, NY

This is a hybrid position which requires 3-4 days in office, 1-2 days remote. Salary range $70K to $80K, commensurate with experience*

Job Summary:
edm architecture & engineering, pc. (“edm”), a thriving design firm, is seeking a Mechanical Engineer who is creative and passionate about designing HVAC and plumbing systems. The Mechanical Engineer will work within an integrated design team to generate sustainable solutions in all phases of a project, in addition to managing and designing innovative HVAC and plumbing systems for a variety of clients in a broad range of markets.

Mechanical Engineer Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering; Professional Engineer Licensure preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience; some fire protection design experience preferred.
  • Ability to retain and build client relationships.Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam or other PDF software, Carrier HAP, and other trade specific software; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of working in both an integrated team and individual design environments.
  • Capable of climbing ladders as part of mechanical observations.
  • Ability to travel to sites and field work.

Mechanical Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients; provide design solutions that exceed expectations.
  • Perform calculations, field observations, report writing, and review and coordination of work.
  • HVAC, plumbing and fire protection systems design, documentation and specification based on sustainable, reliable, and cost-effective solutions in compliance with the Local Building Code.
  • Develop construction documents implementing edm standards to produce a coordinated design set.
  • Review contractor submittals.
  • Attend meetings with clients, architects, engineers, and vendors.
  • Coordinate systems and requirements with architects, structural and electrical designers, and other disciplines.
  • Peer review designs developed by other team members per written edm quality control standards.
  • Work with junior technical staff in the development of technical documentation, proposals, and presentations; resolve installed system issues.
  • Work with clients and studio leaders to develop project fees and proposals.
  • Work with senior management to assist in implementing new corporate processes and goals.
  • Actively seek the latest technologies related to engineering principles and practices.
  • Implement and manage concurrent projects.
  • Maintain involvement with professional and business sector organizations and associations.
  • Demonstrate an active presence in the community.
